Our Story...

So I realized that when I started my blog I never posted anything about Paul and I and how we met and came to be MR. and MRS. HOLGATE! And since I am horrible about writing in a journal I thought I would take some time to document this wonderful story so I will have it later to share with my kids and remember it correctly. So here is how our story goes!
It was October 31st 2003 at Sonic on Val Vista and Southern... I was hanging out with my friend Katie White and we decided to go and hang out with some of our friends... As we arrived at Sonic in the midst of talking with some of our friends I was attacked by two guys in fat suits who started sandwiching me and freak dancing! I thought it was quite weird. The next time I saw Paul was when we were hanging out with a group of people at QT. (that used to be the cool place to hang) Him and his friend Chris were skateboarding around and I asked someone who he was and they told me he was Roberts brother... I was totally confused because Chris and Robert looked way more alike that Paul and Robert... I seriously thought Paul was Chinese! I didn't talk to him that night, but a later night at his house I ran into him again. I decided to talk to him and he was super quiet... He seriously never talked to anyone unless they approached him and started the conversation... I think this must have intrigued me since I am such a chatter box... I would ask him all sorts of questions(a lot of which were "are you sure you aren't Chinese or adopted?" I even once asked his mom because I didn't believe him... To this day even people ask me what his ethnicity is... At our last family reunion my aunts and uncles kept asking me what ethnicity Paul was and I am always curious to hear people guesses so I said lets play a game... You get three chances to guess it... Seriously, not one person guess that he was white!)Any who back to the story... after time Paul offered to drive me home after we were all done hanging out with the group since I didn't have a car... I started to fall for him and thought it would be fun to have us girls ask the guys out on dates so my friend Katie took Chris, I took Paul and Liesl took Robert... This was Paul's first date ever... We blindfolded the guys and drove them over to Katie's Grandmas house where we set up dinner in the backyard... We had pizza for dinner and eclairs for dessert... We had a fun time hanging out and talking.... Liesl and Robert were adventurous and took the paddle boat out... After that date Paul and I started hanging out a lot more... We first held hands in Chris basement while we watched the movie Charlie... We had our first kiss on January 1st 2004 after we spent new years eve together... We dated for 8 months before he left for his mission to Peru in September of 2004... I had just turned 17 and was in my senior year of high school... I waited for him for 7 months and after I graduated I started dating another guy... After dating that guy for 7 months I decided it was not fair to him or the guy I was dating to not dear john him... I didn't know how to do it so I sent Paul a dreadful dear john letter through an e-mail... After Paul got that e-mail he later wrote me a letter asking me to better explain things and to write him back and let him know if it was a joke or not...(he was worried that my little brother had gotten on the comp and written the letter to him) I wrote him back and later found out he never received the letter I sent him due to crappy mail service in Peru... Fast forward a little... When I knew it was soon for Paul to be coming home from his mission I sent him an e-mail giving him my number and letting him know I would love for him to call me once he got home... ( I was dating someone at the time but still considered Paul a good friend) A few days after he got home I got a call from him... I was at my grandparents house and my mom happened to be up in Utah visiting when he called... We talked (or more like I did most the talking) for 2 hours... The next day I got an e-mail from Paul and in it he mentioned that he would like to try dating again...(I guess I forgot to mention that I was dating someone else) I wrote him back and explained that left out detail and he was pretty bummed... We decided that we could still be friends though and would talk all the time on the phone... In October or November I went down to Arizona to visit my family and saw Paul for the first time since he had been home from his mission... I actually broke up with the guy I had been dating that weekend... Paul had expressed to me several times over the phone and through texts that he wanted to date me again but sadly I turned him down... I went down to Arizona again for Thanksgiving and Paul wanted me to explain to him the reasons I didn't want to date him... So I told him which were all very silly reasons... Honestly I think I was just so scared to hurt him again since I know it hurt him pretty bad when I had dear johned him... Any who, in December my roommates fiance who was living down in Arizona too was heading up to Utah to visit her and I thought it would be fun for Paul to come up and visit too! Needless to say I guess that was the trip that I really started falling for him again... I'm sure it made him super happy... We had our second first kiss that visit and I guess you can say that's when we started dating again... I went down to Arizona for Christmas and it was that visit we said I love you... And then we were engaged on January 13Th 2007... It all happened pretty quick but I guess when you know, you know... Paul had been pretty persistent about dating me again and I sure am glad that he was... I guess I have my friend Katie to thank to... I had been talking to her on the phone one time and expressed to her how I was scared to date Paul again because I was afraid of it not working out and hurting him all over again... I remember her telling me that you will never know if it will work out or not if you don't give it a shot and if it doesn't work out at least you knew you tried... That really made me think and kinda made me decide that it was okay to take the risk... I also remember at school we had a special class and we had to write down a list of all of the qualities we would want in a mate and while I was writing them down I realized that everything was explaining Paul to a T... Any who, Kind of a complicated and LONG story and there is so much a I actually left out, but I truly am grateful that our story did turn out with a happy ending amidst the obstacles along the way!

Three years...

Paul and I just celebrated our three year anniversary on the 27th... I can't believe that it has already been three years and that we already have two kids... Time has seriously just flown by... I sure am one lucky girl to be married to this handsome man! Paul is such a good husband and the BEST daddy to Morgan and Asher! We all just love him very much! This year (like all the rest) we just celebrated our anniversary simple... Money has been pretty tight but we still wanted to go out and do something so we used some money I made doing a nail party and went and saw date night... The movies sound was out for about 20 min of it so we actually got free passes to go see another movie of our choice... I tried loading some of our bridal pics but for some reason those ones won't upload so I posted some pics of us leading up to our wedding...
Paul and I before his mission... I was 16 and he was 18
Paul once he was home from his mission... I had come down from Utah to visit
Paul had come up to visit me in Utah in December of 2006... We went and played in the snow in a park area by the Provo Temple... This is the same place that we got engaged on January 13th

This was the weekend that we got engaged! We love to be goofy

My dad got a new camera a couple of days ago and the both of us were pretty excited to go and play with it so we decided to take morgan to the park and let me take some pics! We still have so much to learn about the camera but I had fun taking pics of my dad playing with Morgan and I think she had fun too! She LOVES to be outside! I'm so glad that my dad loves his little grandgirl and loves spending time with her!

Any resemblance?

So ever since Morgan was born and all I ever heard was "Oh she looks JUST LIKE HER DADDY" it made me kinda sad. And then when Asher was born I heard it all over again... I seriously wondered if any of my kids would look like me and the other day I found this picture of me as a baby on my moms computer... I decided I wanted to compare it to the one Paul took of Asher to compare to his baby pictures which he looked pretty much identical to, but if you ask me I think I see some resemblance! It made me happy! Mommy Asher

Happy Birthday Morgan!

Happy Birthday Morgan! I can't believe you would be 15 years old... How time flies! I remember when you were born and we went to get you a big myalr balloon to take to you at the hospital... I remember the day mom brought you home from the hospital and I was pulled out of school early to come and meet you... I remember taking you to school as my show and tell because I loved you so much... I remember loving to hold you all the time and play with you... Doing little photoshoots and doing your hair and make-up... I remember visiting you in the hospital countless times and missing you when you were gone... I never once hated babysitting you, or bathing you, or taking care of you... Thank you for being the best little sister ever and for being such a good example to me and for all of the great memories I have and cherish! We love and miss you very much and wish you were still here with us today...

Working out

My mom recently bought a treadmill and a total gym for her to work out on... Morgan loves playing on her workout equipment when we go over there... She will make Paul get on the treadmill with her and turn it up to speed three and he holds her hands while she runs! Its pretty cute to watch... Hopefully she will enjoy "working out" just as much when she is older as she does now... I will definitely need a work out buddy in the future!

California and Kidney Infections

Last Saturday my mom and I ventured on over to Califonia with the kids to attend my cousin Trent's wedding at the Newport Temple... Paul went on a camping trip with his friend chase on Friday and my dad offered to have a sleepover with Morgan that evening... My mom told me that they had a grand time eating cookies, watching movies, telling scary stories, and best of all staying up til 2 am! Well Morgan got one hour of sleep before we left for California and my mom and I both happened to just get 3 hours of sleep... We left at 3:30 so that we could make it in time for the 12:00 sealing... Luckily I am such a chit chatter that I was able to keep my mom wide awake the whole way there... Asher did really well on the way there only cried a little in the beginning... Morgan I thought would sleep more but I guess it wasn't too comfortable for her to sleep in her carseat... We ended up getting to the temple about an hour and a half early so we got Morgan somewhat ready and walked around a little bit while we waited for everyone to get there... I definatley thought it would be much warmer that it was and sadly for Morgan I didnt pack her a jacket at all... It was pretty chilly in the Morning... My cousin Bridgette watched Morgan and Asher while my mom and I went in for the sealing... She said she had a hoot playing with all the little kids... Morgan also LOVES being outside...

After the sealing we went down the street to a little park overlooking the ocean to have the luncheon... It was super simple but so cute... They had little sack lunches for everyone... I wish I would have taken a picture... After we ate we couldn't resist going down to the beach... It was morgans first time and I was so exciting to take her.... I definately was more excited than she was...

Once we left the beach it was about a 40 minute drive back to the hotel in Pomona... We literally got back to the hotel like ten minutes before the reception started... Morgan definately needed a bath so I gave her one and decided not to do much needed work on myself...
Morgan playing at the reception... They had a yummy barbeque dinner... Morgan is wearing her beautiful spongebob pajama top as a jacket since it was the only long sleeve thing I had packed for her and it was freezing... We figured no one would mind... Plus she still looked super cute!

Me with the bride and groom... Dont mind my undone self!
Asher on the car ride home

It was a very short trip a little more than 24 hours but we sure were glad that we were able to go and support our family... It was a little crazy having the 2 kids and not having Paul there but I am glad he was able to go on his camping trip and get some time to relax! I do have to say that these kids really were champs this whole trip! Besides morgan having a big burst of energy the entire time... But what do you expect from a 2 year old! :)
On the way back from California I was having some back pain and really didn't think much of it until later that night when I noticed that it was only on the left side of my back in the kidney region... I told Paul I thought I was getting a kidney infection (because I have had one previously about 5 years ago) and that I would go to the doctor if I started to get a fever... I was in a considerable amount of pain and went to sleep... Monday Afternoon I started running a fever and decided to go into Urgent care to see if I could get it taken care of before it progressed anymore... I went in at about 7 pm and was indeed diagnosed with a kidney infection and was sent home with a prescription. I went to Walmart to go get it filled since their pharmamcy didn't close til nine and when they gave me my prescription and was explaining to me how to take it I noticed it wasn't matching up with what the doctor had told me...When the Doctor had first prescribed me something I asked if it was okay to take while nursing and he said oh good thanks for letting me know I will need to change it for you... So the first prescription he had written for me was to take twice a day and the new one was for 6 times a day. Anywho when the pharmacist was telling me to take it twice daily that just wasnt sounding right so I tried to explain the situation.... I then looked at my discharge papers and it said on their a different prescription than the one I was presribed and so the pharmacist said he could no longer give me anything since my discharge and the precription didnt match up... Urgent care was already closed by then so I couldnt get it fixed and was frustrated because I was in a lot of pain, so the pharmacist said the best thing I could probably do was to go down to the ER and see if they could do something about the prescription... So off we went to the ER and explained the situation that I was in and they said they were going to admit me. I had to give a urine sample and after they tested it and the results came back the doctor felt it would be best to start me on an IV to help lower my fever and to start my antibiotics through the IV as well and to order some blood work and a kidney ultrasound since I have had a previous kidney infection...They started my IV and antibiotics and then gave me some Morphine, antinausea medication, and some tylenol... I was pretty comfortable... I went and got my ultrasound and everything came back good so at 3 am they discharged me and let me go home... The Morphine had made me super tired, So my mom who was at the hospital with me offered to come stay at my place for the night so i could get some sleep... Paul went and picked up the right antibiotics the next morning so I could get started on them...The next couple of days were pretty rough but I am now glad to say they antibiotics have kicked into full gear and I am feeling much better... I am soooo glad I caught the infection fast and I didnt have to go through everything I did last time which is a whole nother story!
